2024 Salumeria red blend

2024 Salumeria red blend
A blend of 58% Boushey vineyard Sangiovese and 37% Stillwater Creek Cabernet Sauvignon with 8% Stillwater Creek Merlot, named after the Italian word for deli or the place where you would buy salami and prosciutto. Each lot was individually hand-picked, destemmed and fermented in open top bins, each pressed at dryness, free run and press wine combined, raised in neutral French oak barrels. Bottled without fining or filtration in the summer of 2025 under TCA free corks in American-made glass.
Tasting Notes and Suggested Wine Pairing
Sour cherry, pomegranate, tamarind, fresh cracked pepper
I love it with superthinly sliced fennel seed salami, pizza, caramelized shallot pasta.
2024 Orr Wines ‘Salumeria’ Red Wine
The outstanding 2024 ‘Salumeria’ is mainly Sangiovese (58%) with 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Merlot coming from the Stillwater Creek Vineyard. It is a well-structured and delightful Super Tuscan-inspired blend, with a pretty core of red fruits alongside dried herbs, pipe tobacco and milk chocolate notes. Refined tannins, and good length add to the enjoyment here as this is best enjoyed over the next eight to ten years. Drink 2026-2036

ORR Red Wine, Columbia Valley ‘Salumeria’ 2024
Sangiovese leads this blend at 58%, with 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot, and the 2024 Orr Salumeria, Columbia Valley saw only 10 months in old French oak before going to bottle unfined and unfiltered. Sour cherry and pomegranate arrive first, lifted by blood orange peel and a scatter of pink peppercorn. Wet clay grounds the aromatics, and the acidity is properly sharp, the kind that makes you reach for food. The tannins are polished, and the finish is clean and bracing. 191 cases produced.
