Delish Year in Review
Here’s a list of my 2025 most delish in no particular order.
My friend sends me a care package from Zingerman’s every harvest - so nice - these Taiwanese dried mangoes were in this year’s box. Spectacular texture spectacular flavor.
I had a lot of great seafood this year, including sockeye both fresh and smoked caught by my friend Terri’s husband, epic tinned fish including ventresca tuna that I used for a salad nicoise, and the Lummi salmon chowder I’m selling in my “wild caught” holiday gift box, but 2025’s “Showstopper” was this spot prawn aguachile from Holbox in LA.
My restaurant friends make fun of me when I order risotto- I guess it was played out in twenty years ago? As a gluten free person, I love rice and Va de Vi’s sweet corn risotto garnished with prosciutto chips and sungold cherry toms was peak summer produce delicious when my mom and I shared it in July.
Peanut butter - Miso cookies from NYTimes cooking
A savory and salty cookie and you do that thing where you take the sheet tray out after 15 minutes and slam it down on the counter and then put it back in to bake for a couple more minutes to make them flat and chewy in the middle but crispy delish around the edges.
I picked up these Italian almond cookies at DeLaurenti in Seattle. They are crunchy and the nut flavor is natural - I love them on their own, but they are also great dipped into that slow second cup of coffee after harvest is over. Shoutout to Pollard coffee.
New to me products including Grazia hummus, a gf coffee cake mix from Krusteaz that reminds me of the ones we used to make in the 1980s when my relatives came over to the house to visit us, these Snake River Farms Kurabota pork salamis made by Journeyman which are in my holiday gift boxes with a Beecher’s gf cheese cracker that is locally made and tastes great.
The short list of great wines I tasted this year is real long but pictured above are some of the most interesting and fun wines I had the pleasure of drinking this year.
